about Oscare

The activities of Oscare are organized along three major pillars: aftercare, research and prevention.

Mission

Oscare endeavours to offer all care outside a hospital context in the most easily accessible manner possible.

Starting from its expertise with burns and scars and its social commitment, Oscare, a non-profit organization, wants :

  • To invest and to co-operate in social projects relating to burn injury prevention and aftercare.
  • To encourage research into innovating treatments, both domestically and internationally.
  • To offer affordable aftercare (i.e. at the rate of the Belgian National Service for Medical and Disability Insurance).
  • To provide psychosocial support to persons with burns and scars and their families in order to promote the reintegration into society.
  • To spread prevention messages and information to the broadest public possible and to organize prevention campaigns.
  • To establish a meeting place where persons with burns and scars can exchange experiences with one another and with their social workers.
